MelLeDisko answered Thursday December 7 2006, 10:35 pm: No matter what form of protection you take, there's always a slight chance of becoming pregnant ( unless you got your tubes tied or something which I don't think you want to do haha ).
But I really wouldn't worry all too much. The pill is 99.9% effective, and where the pill won't help, if you just use a condom, it'll help protect you even more. Double-protection is always the best way to go to prevent pregnancy.
Also, there may be multiple reasons why your periods late. Sometimes they can just tend to be irregular, one time I didn't get my period all month, it just skipped a month ( know I WOULD'VE been worried I was pregnant but I knew I wasn't cause I haven't had sex yet, lol ). So just wait a little while longer. Also, are you getting worried and majorly stressed about this? Stress can actually also cause your period to become somewhat late. THis happened to my friend she thought she was pregnant because her period became late and she got even MORE worried and stressed out and it made it even later. So like the others suggested, just wait it out a little longer, and then if you still don't have your period, you can always go p urchase a pregnancy test at the drugstore or wherever or go to the clinic and get it done there if you feel more comfortable with that.
And always buy a couple tests ; just to make sure they all come out the same. Sometimes one pregnancy test can turn out wrong, so you don't want to be buying just one and thinking you're pregnant or something when you're really not.
looloo12 answered Thursday December 7 2006, 5:00 pm: its more likely if u had un protected sex. the pill is only 99.9% effective. in some cases ppl think theyre pregnant but stress and increase of hormone levels can make your period come late too. so go to a health clinic and have a pregnancy test taken its free and you'll know for sure.
sizzlinmandolin answered Thursday December 7 2006, 3:41 pm: It's possible, but VERY unlikely. Don't stress over it. You're not that late. If you still haven't gotten your period by the 17th or so, see your doctor just to check to see if anything is wrong. There's a greater chance that its something else affecting your period than you being pregnant. Good luck. Did you get the IUD recently? The IUD itself could somehow be screwing your cycle up. I wish you luck and I hope that everything works out for you. Again, don't worry just yet. :) [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]
Madalyn772 answered Thursday December 7 2006, 3:37 pm: It is, if you've had unprotected sex and are late on your period. Birth control, whether they advertise it to be fool proof, is not. There's always still a chance for and egg to become fertilized. My advice to you is to see a doctor for a pregnancy test instead of a home test.
Since your last period was over a month ago, I'm assuming you ARE late. Get tested, and find out for sure. My daughter was concieved while I was on birth control, so I know for a fact, beyond medically, it IS possible.
