#1 I can't tell you when you are going to start your period, because everyone's periods are different. Some don't get them until they're sixteen, others get them at ten or eleven, etc.
#2 I wouldn't recommend wearing a pad everyday. It causes a rash, if you haven't started your period. I've tried doing that just when I think I'm going to start my period (I've already started though), and it ends up hurting. If you start seeing red, burgandy and/or brown color on your underwear, etc. You should put on a pad.
#3 I would talk to her alone, and explain to her that you would like to know about your peroid. I'm sure she will be happy to talk to you about it, and will answer any and all questions that you have. As for talking to her about bras, explain to her that you are almost fourteen and you feel that you should be able to go buy bras, ect. I'm sure she will understand and everything will be fine!
#4 The white stuff is called discharge. You cannot get rid of it, it's there for a good reason. It cleans out your vagina. It is completely normal to get this everyday, just about every girl/woman gets it everyday. You are supposed to, and there is absolutely nothing to worry about. But this can be unfortable, so to make it more comfortable you can buy pantyliners. They are like pads, except thinner and for discharge. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]

brianna_shay answered Monday December 4 2006, 8:44 pm: -Everyone's period happens at different times. You don't know when yours is gonna be. I started mine at twelve, but my friend started hers at 14, it just depends.
-No you dont need to wear a pad every day. when you start your period there will be such little blood, it won't matter. But if your really concerned, and you think its gonna come soon, you can wear liners. My suggestion is that you always have a pad with you just in case you start, like in your backpack, or a purse, or something.
-Just tell your momm that your at that age, and your gonna need some certain stuff, i mean she'll understand since it happens to everyone, i mean we're all girls, right?
-The white stuff is normal, it happens to everyone, its called vaginal discharge, and theres no way to stop it but like i said before, you can put liners on if its really bothering you, trust me, liners will make everything feel a lot better

AliRae92 answered Monday December 4 2006, 8:38 pm: No need to feel embaraced, its a part of a girls life, we all have to go through it at one point in our life. I know it might be a little embaracing going and picking out your first bra, and telling your mom you started you period. But trust me, she will be more than happy to help you every step of the way, and no need to feel embaraced to tell her, after all you are 14 and i am sure she knows its going to happen very soon. My guess, you should be expecting it soon, within the next 5 months. And about wearing a pad everyday, no. The first time you have it, it will be very small and you will know you had it in time and be able to go take care of it. And if you start at school, dont feel embaraced to go to the teacher and say you need to go to the bathroom, its a girl emergency, my guess is, they have been a teacher long enough and they have gone through experiences with it. if its a girl teacher, they will totally understand and it may be a guy, and they will understand to, they probably have wifes and they understand. And as far as the telling your mom part. How i told my mom I wanted a bra was we were shopping and i just walked over to the bras and was like i want one, =) its as easy as that. And the period, just be like. mom i started my period i need some pads.
