Question Posted Thursday November 23 2006, 10:01 pm
ok i failed 2 finals before & im afraid that will affect what colleges accept me. i'm just not a great test taker, but even with F's on the final, i still managed to get all A's and B's for all of my classes as my final grade & still have a 3.4 GPA. any opinions or experiences??

Maybe your just getting bad grades in a certain subject. let me know if this is good advice [ bijougirl4's advice column | Ask bijougirl4 A Question ]

If this is the case you can have yourself tested for test anxiety, and then begin to have your tests given to you orally. My mom had that problem when she was in high school and she wasnt stupid, she just couldnt take tests. When they began reading them to her orally she would get them all right. No matter how hard you study or what techniques you use, if you have test anxiety, it wont help.
Dont worry about colleges. There is so many other things that they factor in when choosing to accept you. For example, clubs, extracurricular activities, sports, community service, awards you've recieved. Things of that nature.
Also, your ACT's are a big portion of it, which you are also able to have given to you orally.
Talk to your guidance counselor and see if you're able to use this method of test taking, and ask her about the ACT's. I know that I have to be taking them soon and I'm super scared because its a big portion of deciding what college im able to get into.

And she didnt know what to do. So,she went to the school counselor(because they know what to do, they have had situations like this before) ands they gave her some good tips. They said to try different techniques of studying for tests like
1. write your notes more than twice
2. make it fun, and sudy like your in a jeopardy game
3. study with a group of friends(who are REALLY trying to study)
4. study with a parent
5. Problay the best one, study with your teacher
My friend, stududed with her teachers and she ended up getting A's and B's.
By the way let your teacher know, that you are not a good test taker, if they havent noticed.
I hope i helped! Love ya and good luck!
Oh,dont stress cuz that doesnt help either! :) [ chicacaliente's advice column | Ask chicacaliente A Question ]
