How does a person become a film actor? Basic and rather stupid question I know, and I'm guessing it's a lot to do with luck, but really - how do succesful film actors typically get there? I'm talking about in England and America principally. Does anyone know or have any experience of this? Is it just a case of somehow getting a good agent and hoping you have a 'look' someone spots for a role? If so, how do you get an agent? Assuming you have no contacts in the industry.

It happened many times that people who weren't ever rich, famous, or even lucky, made it to the Hollywood and became stars in no time. I think it has a lot to do with your personal power, will, and stubbornness. If you made a decision to be someone you truly dream to be, no one will be able to stop you, because you're the one who makes your destiny.

It does have a lot do with the luck in finding an agent, but after that, it's really how much your family wants to pay for you maybe becoming a small star.
Looks also matter. A lot.
You need to google an agent, and get signed. They'll take it from there.
If you are serious, you'll need to get out here to Burbank, CA ASAP. People always say Hollywood, and that's a lie. There are like, 2 studios in Hollywood. Burbank has about 10. All of the major networks are in Burbank, except for Universal.

To get the card though you have to have an on screen credit. Be prepaired to support yourself with something else for a number of years before you can break into the industry. IF you have bad luck you may fail completely. if your lucky you could get a break two days after you arrive...good luck. [ rick505's advice column | Ask rick505 A Question ]

Sign up for as many acting classes as you can, and search the internet for summer camps and programs that focus on getting kids and teens into the movies. There are a lot, and famous people like zach braff and natalie portman were discovered when they went to acting camps and stuff. This will also give you a taste for whether you really like to act, or whether you just want to be a famous movie star. Good luck [ peebles7's advice column | Ask peebles7 A Question ]
