tatoo hurts? I'm planning on getting a tatoo soon. It's going to be on my lower back and I was wondering, does it hurt alot? It's not going to be big either. If anyone has gotten one in that specific place, I would greatly appreciate an honest, detailed answer. Thanks!

it is my understanding that women are able to tolerate more tattooing pain. i had a sleeve done last year and was surprised that it wasn't painful compared to a root canal. i'd start w/ a small tat first to see how you handle it. also, some artists don't have a heavy hand- maybe you can ask other girls w/ ink on their lower backs who did their tats. ]
I've got good news and bad news.
The bad news: It's been my experience that tattoos ALWAYS hurt!
The good news: The pain is not unbareable. Mostly, it's just annoying. Sort of like being scratched by a kitten. Over and over and over.
If it gets to be too much, just let your artist know, and he or she will let you have a break ;) They will understand.
Don't get yourself too worked-up over how much it's going to hurt becuase once it's over you'll barely even remember how much it hurt, and you'll have an awesome piece of body art forever! yey! ]
If it's your first tatto then yes. Except if you tend to put it on the lower back, it's also known as a "tramp stamp" symbolizing you as a ( and this is what THEY say) "skank, whore, slut, bimbo, easy girl, bitch. etc" of course that's if your a girl getting one. Ovbiously i didn't make the rules but heard them from other guys and most of them agreed. ( i don't know why)
If you where to get a tattoo, i'd suggest on the back of the shoulder plate, left or right. It's also noticeable and when people look at it they won't be looking atthe crack of your ass and then you'd flip out thinking they're looking at your butt.
Hell im thinking of getting a branding of my tribal clan symbol. anyway i hope this helps and good luck ]
I have two tattoos and in a place where you skin is thinner or where you have more fat in a sertain place it hurts more. On your lower back your skin is thick and usually has more fat under it (not so say that you're fat) so it is more sensitive. It also depends on how well you are with pain. I am exteremely good with pain but it is still just that, pain. It feels like a burning sensasion when it happens but don't worry- no harm is being done like a burn. The pain can last to an hour after the tattoo if your really sensitive. But the pain is not that much itself. Just remember- you do get old and your skin does sag so when you get older it won't look the same. ]
Ive known people who have gotten them on their lower back and said it didnt hurt and ive known people who have said it hurt. It all depends on your pain tolerance and how much you're able to handle, or what you classify as pain.
Tattoo's to some people feel like tiny little pinches all over in the same area. To others it may feel like something more intense. If you want a tattoo the only way you're going to find out if it hurts or not is when you get it done.
If you can tolerate getting a shot at the doctor, tattoos are like that except 200 times in a row. ]
