i got my first period 1 week ago! it is still going on, and its not getting lighter. i've had it for 7 days and it feels like its not going away.
also, today i had horrible cramps, i had to come home from school i couldnt sit still i felt like i was going to die. my mom took me to the doctors, he sent my to CVS and he told me all of the medicine/pain relievers to use and now my cramps are gone. im NOT worried about cramps.
also today i threw up 3 times. the doctor checked me and i didnt have a fever my ears were fine i didnt have a cold, i was perfectly healthy so he doesnt know why i threw up. has anyone else ever threw up while on there period? is it normal?
basically my questions are...
1. is it normal to throw up while your on your period?
2. and since this was my first period, when i get my future periods will the cramps be not as bad?
3. and how long does the average menstural cycle go for each month? its been 7 days and it keeps getting heavier...
4. any other tips??
2.after a while of having it itll get better, but it's just a girl thing and Midol helps alot of girls.
3.sometime it could be really irregular, like ive said mine was like 2 weeks on and then 2 months without but thats just at the beginning.
really theres not much you can do unless your doctor puts you on the pill, and i think its too soon for you to start all that. all i could do was try to keep it together. goodluck dear [ Ahnee's advice column | Ask Ahnee A Question ]

2. Cramps are different for everyone. For me, the first time I got them.. I could NOT bend over because it hurt like hell. Other times, it didnt hurt as bad since I went through it before.. but you will know you have cramps. You can take some medicine for it. Some other times, you won't get it.
3. Your first time, it's going to be heavy.
It's usually to 9 days to 14. Some women are different and it's just A WEEK. Some are lucky and only have it for 3 to 4 days. You're going to be irregular for a couple of months, so you won't be sure about it.
sizzlinmandolin answered Thursday November 9 2006, 7:40 pm: Don't worry yet. This is your first one. If the next few are also like this, your doctor can do some things to help you. Lots of women have trouble with their periods. One of my friends had to have surgery because of it. Many others take medication to lessen the symptoms. Just as long as you keep your doctor in the loop with what's going on, you'll be fine. The symptoms you are experiencing aren't normal. This is because the women that would experience such strong symptoms get help for them. The problem with you is that it's your first period. This may just be a one time thing. The cramps may or may not be as bad next time. There's no way of knowing so there's no reason for your doctor to perscribe some sort of medication to you for it just yet. Menstruation lasts anywhere from 3-8 days. It depends on the woman, but I'd say that the average is about 5. Again though, this may just be a one time thing for you. For the first few years I had my period, it would last for about 8 days. It will be erratic until at least your 20's. Don't worry if it lasts 10 or so days. Just keep in touch with your doctor. Hopefully your body can adjust to the new changes on its own. Good luck. :) [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]

1. Not really but it could have been a bug and period aren't the same for everyone so it could have just been your body adjusting to the change dont fret over it
2. ummmm the cramps will always suck but sometimes you wont even have any
3. There is no such thing as a normal mestrual cycle sometimes periods are like that and sometimes you'll skip them for months i havent had mine in 2 months and im not pregnant or sick Dont worry it may not thin out it may just randomly stop
4. ummmmm Be careful with the tampons lol
Well there you go GOOD LUCK!!! [ Kiddo's advice column | Ask Kiddo A Question ]
DancinQueen113 answered Thursday November 9 2006, 6:56 pm: 1) ok well i have never thrown up...maybe you haven't ate alot considering your cramps have been hurting you. that usually happens, when you don't eat..you can possibly throw up because your body isn't use to no food
2) sort of.it all depends.sometimes it won't hurt a bit.and other times it feels like your having a baby.haha.but noo worry's every women goes through it.
3)well this too all depends..if your cycle is irregular.it can be for a short as 3 days..which is nice.if your regular to your period. it can be as long as 12 days. my first period lasted 9 days..
