my cat came inside after being outside for a few hours. he was meowing a lot and so i held him and noticed something bloody in his mouth. one of his teeth is in the wrong spot. theres a row of many teeth on his lower jaw, then a tooth that has been moved/ripped to another area within his gum about 3 mm away. there is dry blood where the tooth used to be.
it happened late at night and the vet is closed tomorrow. what do we do? his tooth is only about the size of maybe 6-10 grains of sugar, but its not in the right spot and we dont know what to do.

He does need to see a vet asap, he seems to be in some pain and he might have trouble eating. The day after tomorrow is really too long to wait in that condition. I don't know what happens where you are, but here the vets work on a rotation, where they take it turns to be the emergency vets. You find out which one is on duty by calling their number.
It might cost more to see an emergency vet but should be worth it to make your cat feel better. Also, left untreated, an injury like the one you have described stands a good chance of becoming infected, and if there is any other damage, leaving it could make him worse and cost more to put right.
Whatever you do, please don't be tempted to try and remove the tooth yourselves, or even touch it, you could make him a lot worse and upset him.
Hope that helps and good luck. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
killerkittens11 answered Sunday November 5 2006, 12:02 pm: Why was he outside in the first place? I think maybe he got stuck because if he got in a fight it most likely wouldn't just be in the mouth, it would be everywhere. There should always be an emergency vet somewhere that's open, so look one up and take him in. [ killerkittens11's advice column | Ask killerkittens11 A Question ]
