Question Posted Thursday November 2 2006, 7:24 pm

My question is as followed.

I have to have a tonsilectomy, uvulaectomy and a adnoidectomy.

Basically, I need my tonsils, adnoids, and my uvula removed (the long dangling thing in the back of your throat).

How will they remove my adnoids? To my understanding they are behind my nose.

I'm also a little nervous about being put under being as I've never had it done. What happens? Please help.

well my friend had his tonsils out and he said it wasn't that bad, just wating popsicles for awhile made him way sick of them =]
So..
if you're totally nervous, bring a comfort item with too surgery..
a teddy bear, a blanket. might sound little kiddish
but it will help =]
maybe even bring your best friend for support.
talk to the doctor beforehand and ask what they're gonna do to you so you feel more comfortable..

good luck!!!
and hope it helps <33

Surgery is scary no matter what your age. It isn't a
real big deal though. It will literally be over before you know it!

They will probably give you a pill to take before you go to the hospital. It is to calm you. They may not give you one but it seems to be the norm these days.

You won't be able to eat after midnight the night before your surgery. You can sip water.

Being put to sleep is weird but nothing to worry about. You won't remember a thing. They put a mask on you and tell you to count backwards from 10 usually. before you get to 8 you are usually asleep!

These days my guess is they will probably use laser surgery on your tonsils and adenoids. If not they cut them out. They are in behind your nose but must be easy to get to because the entire surgery will take only 15-20 minutes. Maybe another
5-10 minutes adding the uvula. Honestly have never known anyone who has had that one done.

Once it is over you will get real sick of ice cream and jello. But it will go just fine. :)
