hey, i'm planning to get my nose pierced in a year or something and i was just wondering...
-how long do you have to keep the stud in?
-after you can take it off, will the hole close if you don't put one on for like a week?
-is the hole visible when you're not wearing a stud?
-You have to keep the stud in 12 weeks.
-After you take it out the hole will close if you don't immediatly replace it for the first year. Trust me I know.
-Nope :]

-You need to leave the stud in for around 6 weeks to give the hole time to heal. I think that if you take it out before that, the hole won't be completely defined and it will probably grow back really quickly, so if you ended up not liking it, you would probably be able to take it out after a week and let it grow back.
-You're supposed to have something in at all times for two months after you get it pierced, or there is a good chance it will grow back.
-The hole will be visible, but it will be REALLY small, and so you could just use a tiny bit of concealer or something if it bothered you, but it might end up being even more noticeable if you do that.
hmspumpkinpie14 answered Sunday October 29 2006, 7:04 pm: you have to keep the stud in for 6-8 week just like witha cartilage percing in your ear. i have my nose perced last year but i had to take it out for 2 days becasue of a softball tournoment adn the hole had closed up i think that it takes diferent amounts of time to close for differnt people. i'm not sure if the hole is visible when not wearing the stud. xohotwiremyheart answered Sunday October 29 2006, 6:39 pm: different people will tell you different things. i got mine pierced with a really thick stud (12 gauge), left it in for only one day, & then changed it to a much smaller stud. after you've had your nosed pierced for a couple months, you can take the stud out for a few days at a time, but it will eventually close up. the hole IS visable when you don't have a stud in, but it's very small & can easily be covered up with makeup. you'll need to twist it daily so a scab doesn't form, & get some salt water spray or whatever. um...i definitely recommend getting it done. i love mine & it didn't hurt at all. it's pretty great. KaTiE_LyNn answered Sunday October 29 2006, 5:55 pm: I just got mine done 2 weeks ago. You need to keep the stud in majority of the time. If you take it out for more than 20 minutes, a scab forms, and you have to scratch it out before the nose ring will go back in. You can change the stud after a few months. The hole isn't that big, so it isn't super obvious when the stud isn't in. It just looks like a scratch or something. It isn't hard to take care of. thelaura answered Sunday October 29 2006, 4:55 pm: I got mine done months ago. If you follow the rules (cleaning etc) you should be fine. However, after changing from a ring to a stud, mine fell out and since that, it's set the healing process back by alot! Be careful not to knock it and accidently pull it out. It's really easily done because you're not used to something being there.
I took mine out 2 days after getting it pierced. and then it fell out multiple times for the next few weeks. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Keep it in at least 3 months before you change it, but listen to what your piercer tells you.
Yes, the hole will close if you don't put it in after a week. It can start to close after 2 hours. If it's been done years, I guess it takes more time.
Visibility depends.. You can see mine for obvious reasons. But after the healing process, it will be tiny :) [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
