yeah, you can get an std from giving head.
watch my spelling, it's probably way off; gonnorehea, syphilis, warts, herpes, and probably many more. these were just some ones i knew right off hand from sex ed & lifetime movies :]
most can be cured, but others like herpes for instance, are with you for life. so be careful. even when giving head, make him wear a condom if you have any doubts.

Of course you can. and because alot of people don't think it's true, many diseases/infections can go un-noticed because it may lie dormant and you may not get any symptoms.

You CAN get STD's from oral sex. You CAN get AIDS, and just about every other type of disease. If you have cuts in your mouth, if your gums are bleeding, if you bite your lip, if you swallow anything that comes from the sexual area, you can get a STD. If you have a cold sore on your lip, you can pass it off to your partner as herpies. You can get and STD. If you don't believe me, look it up. Just a word of warning, Don't be silly, wrap that willy. Thats why they made flavored condoms and dental dams.

You can't get STDS such as HIV etc but you can get herpes.
