Hey..I'm 15/f and I just have a lot of stress with homework, friends, boys, sports, basically everything a girl has to deal with proabaly plus more..what are some things that can help me deal with this stress? Because I usually go to bed at night saying stuff like oh I'll do it tomorrw, and I hope I studied enouf for this test or what ever. And I just have soo much to do I don't get a good nights sleep..so what are some things I can do to lower and relieve my stress and get more time to do things I want to and not study and do h.w all day/night

I know exactly what you mean. I used to suffer the exact same problem every evening.

Here's what you do.

Make a schedule for yourself every night when the workload is particularly bad. Plan out exactly what time you're going to do your work. For example, you might do your algebra problems from 5:30-6:00, depending on how fast you are. I'm hoping that you know yourself well enough to know how quickly you do your work.

If you're starting to panic and cry and get frustrated and think, "I WANT TO QUIT SCHOOL WAAHHHHH", take a break from your work, take a shower, eat some dinner, and listen to music. I swear it works wonders. Once you're relaxed, get back to your work, and I'm sure your mind will calm and ready to work.

When you've got a big long-term assignment, work on it a little each night instead of cramming it all before it's due. I bet you're not going to take that piece seriously, but I CANNOT emphasize how important it is! Listen....when I was in 6th grade, I had to do a lunar chart and record the phases of the moon every day of the month and add them up. I blew it off every night, so the day before the project was due.....I had nothing on my chart! I had to go searching through the library's newspaper archives for hours on end, adding and subtracting until my brain was turning into mush. I was up until 3:00 AM trying to finish it up at the last minute, and it was torturous. Whilst if I had taken 5 minutes out of every night to record the phase of the moon, it would've been easy. The moral of the story is: don't ever wait til the last minute! It saves a lot of stress and time that could be put into relaxing and having fun. Don't learn it the hard way.

I admit it. It's hard to balance everything because being on the computer for hours or watching your favorite show's re-runs is just way too great. I normally finish my homework in class when the teachers are jabbing away and if I don't finish it, I do it RIGHT when I get home as if it was like I had to. Make yourself do it RIGHT AWAY when you get home even if it burns so much that you don't want to do it.

Sports normally have set schedules so that's something that you can easily work around. If you have practice right after school, make sure right when you get home from practice you finish that homework so at least you can watch TV and go on the computer or talk on the phone as much as you want without knowing important things have to be done.

The most important things should be done and worked in FIRST (sports and homework) because they're things you have to do. At least if you make sure you finish those RIGHT AWAY...then you have all that extra (and stress free!) time to deal with the friends and boys.

(And as for studying...try and get it done with your homework and read through notes and everything you have to know so you don't have to stress about that either!)

Isn't it better to know that the normal "oh, I'll do it tomorrow and I hope I studied enough for this test" will be changed to a "oh, I'll deal with telling my best friend about my phone conversation with my crush tomorrow...I hope I remember it all!"

Believe me...it's way better.

Good Luck!
Nikki.

To make myself less stressed, I sort of make myself a little schedule to follow on a daily basis. I go to school, and I usually either do my homework during the class ( while they're just talking or giving you some time to do it ), or I do it while I socialize with my friends at lunch and they can even help me with it and it gets done quicker.

Also, then whenever I get home, I just sit on the computer on sit around and talk to my friends on the phone adn the computer and eat and whatnot till around 9 or so, and then I get off and do all my homework and get ready what I'm going to wear tommorrow and everything, and then if it's still not too late, I go back on the computer and talk to all my friends for awhile longer.

For the weekends, I just do all my homework on Sunday like all the other kids do or I do it right whenever I get home on Friday night so I don't have to worry about it the whole entire weekend and I still have time to hang out with my friends and focus on other things.

You just need to learn how to balance everything toegether so you can still do everything you want, but still do what you have to in school and everything.

If you DO have a test, however, like I said get off the computer or whatever around 9 o' clock and start studying and doing your homework and whatnot, and then just study for however long seems good ( over-studying I hear isn't good for yo at all and doesn't help you remember that much better ), so just study then sleep. And then on the way to school if you're sitting there with a friend, have them quiz you on your test, or just do it in homeroom.

If you want to IM me, just IM me at Mel Le Disko to talk about anything else you want to talk about on this, or just re-message me!

I hope I helped!
