Stagefright

Question Posted Sunday October 8 2006, 3:35 am

OK my teacher is holding tryouts for a solo to a good song on Wednesday. I know the solo really well and I've been practicing all week. I want to do it but i'm afraid if i get up there, I'll choke or something. I can't even sing in front of my mom! How can i overcome this by Wednesday?

You can definatly do it - i overcame it agesss ago.Go 2 a good mate and sing to them.....but they cant always give you an honest opnion go 2 your ma or pa and ask them what they think as parents always give us the truth wethere itz horrid or not.itz harder 2 sing in front of one person than millions.....but it is totally not bad.JUST SING 2 UR RENTs and mates

I used to have the same problem. If you practice singing in a group of your friends then you will build up the confidence to sing by yourself. I landed myself a singing solo by using this technique. If this doesnt work out for you then you should laugh your ass off before you go on. Laughing relieves pressure and gets rid of the butterflies in your stomach...and not to mention it gives you adrenalin to help you song better. good luck with getting the solo.

There are many more links on google if you type in something similar to "overcome stage fright"
Everyone who auditions can go through this at some point and it's perfectly normal. It's just a case of overcoming this fear.
Easier said than done.. But there's lots of help on the internet. And before you do it, sleep well the night before, eat breakfast, take deep breaths and perform your best.
Obviously, the teacher will put the fact you will be nervous into consideration.
So best of luck with the audition and I hope you get what you want. :)

Hey!!!Here is my advice:

I think that you should take it one step at a time:

1.) Sing to yourself in the mirror
2.) Then sing to your mom and have her face look at your back the whole time
3.) Then try singing in front of a couple people

And just remember you have to follow your dreams

P.S. Just remember everyone has stage fright. You are not alone
