JesusSavesMR2007 answered Sunday October 8 2006, 9:10 pm: Most tryouts will include the following:
1. A cheer of varying difficulty.
2. A dance.
3. Jumps (toe touch, herkies, pike, etc.)
4. Some tumbling (Back handspring, back tuck, etc.)
try looking for more information on www.cheerleading.about.com
they also show which jumps are which, and list a few cheers that you could use for practice.
let me know if you need anymore help. I'm currently in my 4th year of HS cheerleading.
amandaxxbearx3 answered Sunday October 8 2006, 12:32 am: for my school you have to have good jumps, pointed toes, straight legs, height, etc
for dance we have to be smooth and on time
stunting, pretty much dont drop your flyer or fall
cheering, having tight sharp motions, stay on count
tumbling they tell us it isnt necassary but the people who can tumble usually always make it and on better squads or higher up like jv and varsity but you can very well make it without it.
and through all of this make sure you have good facials and smiling all the time, even when you think they arent looking because they are and also if they ask for volunteers, make sure you raise your hand first because it makes them see that youre willing to try anything.
Advicelady6798 answered Sunday October 8 2006, 12:22 am: You need to be able to interpret moves. What I mean is when their teaching you how to do the steps they want you to be able to learn and memorize how to do them quickly. You only need to know how to do a toe-touch and a cartwheel to be on the squad. You always have to smile when you perform. Those are just the basic skills you have to know for the squad.
