unfortunatly your lungs will never be back to normal. But since you are young, the damage will be very minor as you grow. as for running you should see a little improvement every time you run and eventually you will be breathing well again. hope i helped. ]
Everyone's lungs are different.
You'll see an improvement in about 4-10 weeks.
Slowly they'll clear themselves out bit by bit.
This may takes months, it may take years.
Like I said, everyone's different.
However, there is a chance you might now be 100% clean, but I encourage you to work up to running alot. This can help improve your lungs.
Right now, only run about half a mile, and work up to three over a course of a year.
Props on quitting :)
Good Luck <3 ]
I'm pretty sure its around 7 years before the tar from your lungs is cleared... well done for quitting! xx ]
Your body does the best it can to heal itself. About 2 to 12 weeks after your last cigarette lung function improves and 6 to 9 months after quitting you'll have less coughing and shortness of breath.
Not to say you got off scott free though. Smoking, especially as a young teen can negatively effect lung development. You'll likely never be 100%.
But studies show that people who quit smoking before or in their early twenties have a much better chance of avoiding the worst effects of smoking like cancer and asthma. To hurry up the healing, try some aerobic exercise. ]
