Question Posted Sunday September 24 2006, 11:10 pm
I work out a lot, so much that I skip my periods a lot. I've been looking up some info on it, and I've heard that it can lead to osteoporosis earlier in life. I get enough calcium, I take a supplement and consciously eat plenty of dairy products. Should I back off the exercise so that my periods come back? I've never broken a bone in my body, so I don't think I'm losing bone, but I just don't know.

Allthough, irregular menstrual cycles may lead to future bone and joint problems. You should speak with your gynocologist and he might prescribe a birth control that can balance out your hormonal levels or suggest a different approach that will help your irregularity. To prevent joint and bone problems I would suggest starting a vitamin regimen, and strongly recommend findng the best suitable vitamin regimen for yourself via [Link](Mouse over link to see full location). I would see a doctor if I were you, and see if what you're doing is healthy, and change your routine based on what they say. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]

Next time you visit a doctor you might ask him/her if there is anything else you can do...or even how true it is. I always heard exercise was good for your bones.
If he doesn't come across your question you might ask MikeCFT. As a fitness trainer he may be the best
one here to ask. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
