Ever since I was little, like before I was a year old, it has been me and "Kay". Not soon after it became me, Kay, and "Lindsey," and it has been like that ever since. We were really close when we were younger, and now we're growing apart! But that's not the worst part.
Kay is starting to joke about being emo, she listens to songs that are unlike her, and she is just altogether different. Sometimes it seems forced, like she is trying to be someone she's not. Recently, she has brought up the subject of cutting. I know she hasn't, but she said she likes snapping elastics on her wrist and feeling pain.. and I'm scared for her. I can't picture her cutting herself, and I don't think she can picture it either. I'm not sure why she's acting like this, I know she often gets angry at her mother, I dunno if that means anything.
I don't mind people being different, but I don't want her to start hurting herself! Please help..
But this is just a phase. It's like going goth. I've had many friends go through this. If you are really close to her then you should keep being her friend and support her.
There's always the option of making new friends. It always comes to this.
Sometimes people do things to get attention or just do it because.. well.. everyone else has done it. Maybe she feels left out.
But yeah, the elastics thing is a lot better than cutting.. but if you see signs of baggy clothing or long sleeves or her.. grabbing her wrists whenever the sleeve goes up.. She may be cutting.
It would be best just to talk to an adult about it, if you ever see a cut.
Maybe she likes the songs though, just because it doesnt seem like her.. doesnt mean she cant like it.
Everyone changes. She is just changing in a big way.
I bet you changed too.. you just didnt notice it.
It's best to make a lot of friends.. a big variety. You usually lose your first best friend though. Unless you are like.. glued to the hip.
