i usualy just take the key sentence out of the email, or the persons name who is supposedly dying of cancer and will get 10c if i forward it, plug it into google and click search. the first result is usualy a hoax checker site that will say if its true or not

most of them are actully fake... go to www.hoax-slayer.com and then on the top put your mouse over Hoaxes and Scams and then click on E-mail hoaxes.

indeed. often plugging in a few random words in the search box at snopes.com (the urban legend internet database) you can find out if your email is real or not. basically, most of them are fake.
