Question Posted Thursday August 24 2006, 5:58 pm

Hey my name is Rachel and iam 17 years old and i've been really depressed about my weight lately and my self-esteem has really been going down and my blood pressure has been going up to like 152/102 and my doctor says that's really high for a 17 years old and he looked scared and that really scared me that my doctor looked scared so i've been eating alot less than I use to.I use to weigh 149 and now I weigh about 105 and iam 5foot and I got so use to my lowcarb diet I decided to stick to it and excersize regularly, but my mom seems really worried and so do my friends and my other family they say when iam only 105 I don't need to diet i've been seeing my school counsler and she tells me to do what I feel is right, but at this point I don't know what is right. Is this anorexia?

alright. what you need to do, is to start back with eating. now i know... the first thing that comes to mind when you think about food is FAT. and you need to get past that word...because all it is going to do is limit everything that goes on in your life. food shouldnt always mean FAT...right now, your body probably isnt used to a normal diet's amount of food. but not eating isnt healthy, and you know that. so what you need to do, is slowly start building up to a normmal diet. but a normal diet could consist of a spinach salad with balsamic vinegar on it... and maybe a fruit instead of a normal teenager's mcdonalds diet! ha. so just think of eating healthy and then when you want that one brownie or you want tht pizza, occasionally, its okay to splurge. but also excersize. even just daily stretches and a couple crunches is better then sitting at a computer or laptop all day like me! but pace yourself.. dont overdue it.. you could get seriously hurt. Dramatic weightloss, in some cases, isnt good... so take down your weight at gradual speeds ... and do it the healthy way. stay safe and god bless =]

you have high blood pressure, so you went on a low-carb diet?

what the hell?

high blood pressure. low cholesterol diet. plant-based. carbohydrates are your friend. they will not cause you to gain weight. eliminate animal-related products to lower your cholesterol. no meat. no milk. no eggs. no cheese. these foods have cholesterol which gums your veins. ta da. high blood pressure. a low-carb diet will only cause it to get worse and make you more sickly.

if it's not anorexia, it is just plain stupid.
