This year im in video announcements for my school and I'm going to be the lead anchor. and I was wondering if anyone had some good tips on how not to screw up and how to make my voice sound better. I hear opening your mouth wide helps. any answer will be considored. Thanks
krazyismefosho answered Wednesday August 23 2006, 6:50 pm: I did that for 6 years. I was the youngest lead anchor in my elementary school's history (everybody was 4th or 5th grade and i started in 1st).
I'd make sure to speak loudly and clearly. Make sure to INNOUNCIATE (sp?). Be bright and cheery and create a pleasent atmosphere.
Just be happy and confident and don't be afraid of the camera. Pretend your best friend is on the other side. Or your mom.

Right before you go on, try to yawn, stretch, giggle, anything to wake your face up since it's early in the morning. When you reading (either from a script or a telepromter) just concentrate on what you're saying. Be sure to smile, you don't want to look like you're struggling to read anything. If you are reading from a script, look up everyones and a while. Practice the sign ons and sign offs if you guys are required to remember them. Clear your throat right before you go on too, that way you're voice is clear. Gargling water helps, but I don't know if you want to go that far.
