Question Posted Monday August 21 2006, 4:27 am

I have a coldsore/zit that appears every now and then at the edgge of my upper lip. I applied some acne treatment like usual, but instead of just applying it on the spot, I applied it all along my entire upper lip. Now my entire upper lip burns as if there's more than just more zit. But I don't see any except that one. Should I be worried?

With some acne medicines you can only apply to the zit because otherwise your skin has a reaction to the medication, it's happened to me, just try to apply it to just the acne next time, I'm sure it'll be fine.

You are really only supposed to apply heavy duty spot treatment ON the spot, so that may be why. Your skin is probably just really irritated, so don't use that product on it anymore.

Your skin is just irritated, it happens to me everytime i put acne medicine on my face, it'll get better in a couple of days. i usually put nivea creme on my face, it helps soothe the pain.

nah, that's normal. Acne medication can do that, and the skin around your mouth is more sensitive than the rest of your face.

I've heard that switching toothpastes can cause pimples around your mouth, but I don't know if this is true. It sounds crazy to me, but yea I suppose it could happen.

Don't worry about it. if it doesnt og away in a few days, it may be a cold sore. Abreva will get rid of it, or just wait it out (even though theyre icky) and just put some foundation or concealer on it.
