To make a chocolate milkshake, you can use soy milk and mix it with chocolate sorbet in a blender. Or, you can make a raspberry milkshake with raspberry sorbet and regular soymilk. Each is very tasty. Lactaid milk brand hasn't started making chocolate milk, but I have a feeling they may start soon because a lot of people have this intolerance. As mentioned before, chocolate soymilk is good.
You shouldn't have to deal with the nasty side-effects so help yourself out by avoiding the foods you know that hurt your intestines.
Vikki27 answered Sunday August 20 2006, 6:30 am: I have a similar problem to you. I am also lactose intolerant (although mine is the result of another digestive problem).
There's lots of different types orf produce you could try. Lactose is a sugar in cow's milk, so although you cannot have 'regular' milk, you can try goats milk, soya milk or rice milk, without having to worry about any nasty side effects, as they are all naturally lactose free.
As for cheese, feta cheese is not produced from cow's milk. Neither is goat cheese, so you could give these a try.
As for ice cream, there are lots of different companies who make dairy free ice cream and in some cases, you really can't tell the difference! For example, I eat Swedish Glace ice cream, which is dairy free, gluten free and cholesterol free and my partner can't tell that it doesn't have dairy in it! If you have a look round the internet for dairy free ice creams, you should get the names of some companies whose produce you can try.
When it comes to recipes, you can use any fairy free substitutes. However, when using rice milk, remember that it is a very thin liquid and will not be suitable when making puddings or anything of a similar nature. When cooking, ensure to use soya milk and you will be fine. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]

Moop answered Saturday August 19 2006, 9:39 pm: tofutti makes an ice cream made of tofu (that tastes more like frozen custard than ice cream). silk chocolate milk tastes a bit more bean-y than regular milk, but it's delicious like chocolate wafers or sugar cookies. and well, I haven't found any good all-purpose cheese substitutes. for general uses in italian food, I use veggie shreds. I've heard that there's an english product called cheezly that tastes remarkably similar. as for cooking without cheese, my favorite cookbooks are Vegan with a Vengeance, Vive le Vegan, and the Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook (which I've never cooked from, but I've eaten from it). These three don't have meat either. vegan cookbooks such as these are probably your best bet. [ Moop's advice column | Ask Moop A Question ]
xEVYx answered Saturday August 19 2006, 9:01 pm: Do you drink regular milk? Because if you do, there's a lactaid milk that's for that, that way you can still drink it. Or you could try lactase drops..
But if that's not what you want , there's a few things you could go make/eat on this website!
