Bug Bite

Question Posted Thursday August 17 2006, 12:24 am

SO i got this huge bug bite on the back of my leg and I have no idea what its from, or if it even is a bug bite. Its hard, and the size of like 4 quarters. Does anyone have any idea what it could be, and how I can make it go away? Thanks

judging by the size of it, it could be a spider bite. if it keeps getting bigger/swelling/whatever, i'd go to the doctor immediately. you could have gotten bit by a spider in your sleep, and the longer you wait to treat those bites, the longer it takes to heal. i doubt it's deadly, but my best friend's sister was bit by a spider on her thigh one time and her flesh turned black around the bite. this more than likely won't happen to you because she got bit by a deadly spider, but monitor it closely. after all, it could just be a bite from a massive mosquito or something. if it itches, i'd try getting benadryl spray. also, make sure there's not a stinger or anything still in there. you could have gotten bit by a bug that you're allergic to, so take that into consideration. i'd go to the drug store and see if they have any bug bite remedies. but if it gets worse, go to the doctor.

When a bug bites me, I usually get like that too. That's only because I'm allergic to bug bites though, so they swell up. I suggest putting some after-bite on it. If it doesn't go away in a couple of days or so, I would go to the doctors just to get it checked up on. ♥

You may have gotten bitten by an insect, you need to go see a doctor and have it checked out.

If its size hasn't gotten smaller in about a week and a half, you should see a doctor about it. There is this stuff that you can get at Walgreens that's called The Itch Eraser by Afterbite. It works pretty well if the bite is really bothering you. Good luck with your bite.

It sounds like it might be an insect bite. Unfortunately, some insects, such as the Blandford Fly, can cause big areas of swelling such as you are now experiencing.

As I am not sure where in the world you are, I cannot say whether it is an insect bite or a bite from something else, such as a spider. For this reason and also to show you how to treat it and prevent infection, I have done a Google search and below is a website which will tell you absoloutely everything you need to know about it.

If the information contained on the website regarding treatment doesn't help, or if you experience any other symptoms, I would recommend that you speak to a doctor. It is always better to get these things checked by a medical practitioner when in doubt.
