On July 24, I had a procedure where I was put to sleep for over 5 hours. Since then, I have not had my period. I am now about two weeks late. I am a virgin so there is no way I could be pregnant. Does anyone know if this could be a side effect of anesthesia?

I did that once just wait and see if you have it this month. If not I would recommend you go see a doctor. [ limeslushie2010's advice column | Ask limeslushie2010 A Question ]

It is a side affect from the ansthetic, and your period will probably be a bit irregular for a while.
According to the side effects on that website there is nothing stating that you might miss a period. Every girl can miss a period tho and yo period may just be irregular. I would wait and see if you start it and if you miss next months period then maybe you should see your family doctor but till then i think you should be fine.

However is it possible that you were fairly stressed out or anxious anticipating your surgery? That could have affected your period. If your surgery changed your eating habits- say you were limited to liquids or just eating less in general, it's also likely to make you late.

But I do know that sometimes, after getting surgery, it throws your body off a little. So it's most likely not the anesthesia but the actual surgery that is delaying your period.

That kind of change could make you miss your period and usually i do not eat much after something like that happens. I wouldn't say its really a side effect of the anesthesia though [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
