What is the difference between saturated fat and fat?

MikeCFT answered Tuesday August 15 2006, 6:29 pm: Fats are categorized by how many hydrogen atoms are attached to the lipid itself. The more hydrogen atoms; the more saturated the fat is, there are polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and saturated fats and when you read Total Fat on a label its the total amount of these 3 categories in accordance to how much a particular food has- Here's a visual example:
Polyunsaturated fat is like a strand of string that is perfect with no tangles
Monounsaturated is like a strand with just a few tangles
