Side effects I guess depends on the person. Some people gain alot of weight on birth control pills but if that does happen only about maybe 2-5 pounds maybe.Rarely do women gain alot. And sometimes women loose weight.
Well where I live its like $10 per pack or per every two packs.I got my first two packs free from my doctor just to see how everything goes and make sure I dont have any problems being on it.
Yes you do need a presciption from your doctor. You cant just go to the store and buy birth control without your doctors constent.Your doctor might even start you off on a low dose pill just for the first three months to see how it goes.
Thats what doctor patient confidentality is for.If you just talk to your doctor about it they will not tell your parents anything, if you dont want them to know about it.

with my insurance, it only costs around 10$, but with my mom's insurance, it's 30$.
prescription is required.
he should be required to keep it a secret, depending on the state you live in. here's a website.. just select the state you live in and it should give you a summary of your medical privacy laws! hope i helped! =]
AlixIsDaGangsta91 answered Thursday August 17 2006, 7:23 pm: I currently take yasmin one of the "sugar pills" birth controls. i find that it does work effictively if you take it at the same time every day and it does help regulate you menstruall cycle if yours isnt normal. it costs about 10$ with my insurance. Doctors are required to keep it confidential.
I took ortho tri cyclen and it made me gain weight and i found it to not work very well. but thats for me. and every one is different. you should see a planned parent hood doctor. or a obgyn (they specialize in that kind of thing).
I hope i helped. if you need anything else feel free to message me.
Tulipg17 answered Wednesday August 16 2006, 8:43 am: Your doctor is legally required to keep it confidential. You do need an RX for the Pill, but it is over 99% effective and very few side effects. [ Tulipg17's advice column | Ask Tulipg17 A Question ]
xomegaroni answered Tuesday August 15 2006, 4:17 pm: i don't take birth control [a few of my friends do] & each pill brand is different & the side effects are also different for each person. the price range is also very different. they aren't cheap. for this, you should go to Planned Parenthood. you can go by yourself [or a friend/relative/bf/parents] & the doctor won't say anything. i think you juss have to be 13 [depending on where you live]. google your area & see where the closest Planned Parenthood is. they will answer all of your questions depending on your health & what not. it would be a lot better doing that than getting advice from us, since they're doctors. you could go to your doctor, but they might let your parents know where Planned Parenthood is totally confidential.
