my spacebar/caps/shift key won't work

Question Posted Thursday August 10 2006, 10:54 am

suddenly my spacebar isn't working. i cant do caps and my shift key wont do anything. is there anything i can do?

i tried doing the stickykeys option nothing's wrong.

i'm copying a space.

don't.tell.me.to.take.my.spacebar.out.again.because.i.had.to.get.a.new.keyboard.after.that...

my.computer.was.making.weird.noises.like.the.stickykeys.one.and.kept.going.on.stand.by.

so.i.shut.my.computer.down.because.it.would.always.log.me.out.when.i.logged.in.

it.would.be.the.windowsxp-blue.logging.in.screen-
that.said.."stand by"
then.my.desktop.
overandover.

i'm.doing.a.scan.

but.is.there.something.else.i.can.do?

Some malware (spyware/adware, viruses, etc.) can cause certain keys not to work.

It probably is something to do with the keyboard.
If you haven't already, unplug it, turn off your computer, plug it back in, then turn on the computer.
If this doesn't work, check if you've accidently changed any settings.
Run a virus check, too. Just to be on the safe side.

i recomend getting a new keyboard. And if you dont feel like spending the money get a used one. You could usually find one at your/your moms or dads work. Thats what i do when a mouse or keyboard is screwed up. I would give you a keyboard if i knew where you lived near me and i knew you b/c i have an extra one....just make sure the keys are over the little button on the keyboard like when you press down on them.

i hope i helped =]

maybe try unplugging and replugging in your keyboard?

and while its unplugged you and try fidgetting with it

also check to see if you have the spacebar locked

its mostlikely something wrong with the keyboard not the computer
