Can mental people be sane and "normal people" aren't?
Question Posted Monday July 31 2006, 7:44 pm
Walking down a very busy street today, I saw a gentleman talking to himself and pausing to hear an answer. He was talking to himself but I truly believe, that he believed, there was someone there. Who can say that there wasn't? Could he be talking to the dead or to someone else that lives on a different plain then we do? Maybe, he is the "normal one" and we aren't because we can't see what he is seeing? Has anyone else ever thought of this theory before or am I not "normal"?

Scientists have proven that humans only use approximately 10% of their brain so there have been many theories that perhaps people who are considered 'psychic' or some who are considered 'mentally unstable' and so on, might actually be accessing other, usually untapped, parts of the brain.

But I wouldn't say that this guy is necessarily insane or anything. He is just different than you or I mentally.
Yah, he could have been talking to dead people. Heck, he could have been talking to God for all we know. But no matter who it was, he was hearing someone in his own mind.
I don't think this makes him normal and you not or vise-verse. Talking to voices no one else can hear is normal to him, just as talking to your friends on the phone is normal to you.
I definitely think that it is something you could study about if it interests you. Maybe it is something that will inspire you to do things to help people considered "not normal" or "not sane". [ Brandi_S's advice column | Ask Brandi_S A Question ]
