TATTOOING

Question Posted Sunday July 30 2006, 3:58 pm

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for all the scabbing to go away when you first get a tattoo? I got this really nice tattoo the other day & it looks pretty ugly right now. Thanx.

Bacitracin (available at Wal-mart with the band-aids) I used this on all 5 of my tat's. And not only did they come out VERY GOOD, the healing time was cut in half.

Whatever you do don't use any regular old cream or any ointments not specifically meant for tattoos. There's some stuff you can buy, usually your local tattoo artist will carry it, called Tattoo Goo or there's one called Phat Tat.

Regular creams will block your pores and distort the colors, use only tattoo specific creams.

It depends on how fast you heal, everyone is different. For the tattoo I got on my ankle it took around 2 weeks or so, but after the first few days as long as you are putting cream on it 3-4 times a day it is not all that noticable except to touch. Make sure though that when it starts to itch (and believe me it will!!)do not scratch, it will take the pigment (colour) out of your tattoo.

Hope this helped!

I'd say just put some anti-itch cream or something to put on it. A really good cream that I actually used for my bellybutton ring and I've seen used for tattoos as well is Bacitracin. It helps it heal and makes the skin soft as well. Hope it works. :)
