When I was a freshman, the upperclassmen called me a fresh-more. this is how i did it:
-talk to them when you think they want to talk to you. at lunch everyday is not a good idea.
-don't be annoying. don't go on and on talking when people kinda want you to shut up.
-don't have this "i'm just as good as those upperclassmen" attitude. they don't like it.
-go with the flow. don't call your mom to make decisions.
-make friend with a few upperclassmen you know. be nice and mature and all will be good. don't just hang out with freshmen. for theater...there was always a group of freshmen that would be annoying to everyone. even if some of them weren't, we still categorized them at the stupid annoying freshmen. (yes, i know i was one of them)
-don't go on and on about your gradeschool years. move on, high school is better.
-be yourself. really. you will make friends. you don't want to be with a crowd that likes the show you put on.
-speak up. don't be completely shy and silent. people like that don't usually make many friends.
-have a good time.

I'm a sophmore this year, so it's fresh in my mind what being a freshman was like.
It was just like every other year. I went in on the first day so scared. I was like "O my gosh, all the upperclassmen are going to shove me around and stuff me in the trashcan!"
I went in, the kids kind of looked at me like "Uhg, another freshman..." and "Grr! Imma gon eat you ya little wus!"
but never actually said that or did that. :)
they just give you a hard time to toughen you up. To show you they won't actually hurt you. Even some of the teachers are like "Ey! YOU! YEAH THE FRESHMAN!" I got to be good friends with a lot of the upperclassmen too. Just go in with a positive attitude, ready to make friends and the next 4 years will be good for you.

Hey. I know entering high school can be a scary thing. There's a lot of expectations you probably have. You probably also don't know what to expect at the same time as well. Hazing really doesn't happen as much as you probably thing. I know every school is different, but generally, noone is going to "stuff you in a locker". Sure, at the pep rallies all the freshmen will get booed, but noone is really going to do any physical harm to you. The upperclassmen (if you have a class with one or something) might make you get up and get something for them. Stuff like that; minor. Nothing major. Boys that play on a team like football probably will experience a little more of a tough time in the locker room but other than that, you'll be just fine. Join some clubs. get to know knew people, work hard, and have fun! :) ]
