Can you get pregnant while you are on your period? Yes, but the chances are very low.
There aren't any consequences, except you are more sensitive down there, and it can get kind of messy at times depending on how long you've been on it.
And after sperm hits the air, it stays alive only for a few minutes. But it doesn't die as soon as it leaves the penis, anyone that says that is just dumb. lol, kidding. But it really doesn't.

i dont really agree wit the other answers because before you get your period you have a window of about 3 to 4 days that you can get pregnant because the lining in the uterus that protects the egg is fully developed & when you have your period that lining is going away and there would be nothing for the egg to lay in & be protected. and the sperm can stay alive from 5 to 7 days. some of the cansequences is that you can get an std such a herpes' & hiv. hope i helped =]

Yes you can get pregnant if you have sex while on youre period. The consequenses? well they are basically the same as when you dont use protection plus very messy. You can get STDs or even pregnant
If I am not mistaken it can survive for up to 24 hours after ejaculation and longer if it is contained in an air-tight seal and refrigerated/frozen. I've known people that have gotten pregnant from semen that has been left on their underpants with no intercourse. Those little buggers have a mission and they will find a way from noway to get to that egg
