I know exactly how you feel about keeping it private, I did the same thing so I wouldn't get hounded and asked constantly how much weight I lost. What I did is to follow the "GI" diet. You can look it up online, basically instead of eating 3 meals a day you eat six times a day, 3 meals 3 snacks. The snacks are healthy like yogurt, fruit etc.. the meals are smaller portions not tiny but smaller, the great thing about this diet is that there is nothing you are not allowed, if its someones birthday have a piece of cake just not a huge one.
Make sure you drink tons of water and exercise, walking and swimming are the best. You could also do crunches and pushups in your room without anyone finding out. I found that since I was eating the same food as the family they didn't question my habits and when I started losing weight my family just assumed that I was losing my babyfat!
Sadie63341 answered Sunday July 16 2006, 11:17 pm: It's kind of hard to keep it private if you start eating healthier foods and stuff, but I would just try to avoid soda at all costs. I can't tell you how important that is. I know when my mom stopped drinking soda and replaced it with 8 glasses of water a day, she lost 15 pounds really fast. Soda has SO many calories in it.
Also, eating fruit instead of chocolate isn't something that people will freak out about. Just snack on a banana or a peach, and you'll get a little sugar-taste fix but won't be going all "health nut", so hopefully nobody will notice.
Exercising is something you can do in the privacy of your own room, so that's a good thing. Doing situps, pushups, etc. will help tone you. Use something heavy (like a sand-filled balloon, weighing a few pounds) and do arm curls or arm lifts. Look up different exercises on google, and just improvise. Doing wall-sits hurts soooo bad but you wouldn't believe the results. They do amazing things for your body.
I hope this helps, and I hope you get the results you want. Walk as much as possible. Take the stairs. Avoid sugar if you can! And last but not least remember to drink lots of water. It helps SO much. [ Sadie63341's advice column | Ask Sadie63341 A Question ]

Mollysie answered Sunday July 16 2006, 7:55 pm: Alright. Keeping it private shouldn't be a problem. Just don't make it public that your working out or anything. What I recomend, is laying of the high carbs foods. Pasta, and breads, be sure to watch what fluids your drinking. Soda has ALOT of sugar, so try to stick to water. I recomend crunches, about 100 a day, throughout the day, you don't need to do them all at once. Also I love to run, but I know for some people they just hate it, but if you like to run that is wonderful exersise it really gets your heart going and gives strength to your legs. If you think like all of this is to much, just take it one day at a time. Maybe walk one day, do maybe 50 crunches. Try to challenge yourself everyday. Don't do away completly with all sugary things because your just going to crave them more. Just try to eat less of them. Everyday take a little more away. Loosing weight is all about you, only you know what is right for you. So if your having trouble with any of this, than just follow what you feel like doing! Good Luck! I love feedback good and bad! I hope I helped at all! :)
Love,
