Jess5764 answered Friday July 14 2006, 6:19 pm: hey i run xc and i would go to fleet feet...they watch you run and tell you the shoes that would be best for your feet. don't try to pick them out yourself unless you want to get injured.
i wear saucony, but adidas, nike, or new balance are good shoes too. i wouldn't suggest reebok. [ Jess5764's advice column | Ask Jess5764 A Question ]

Many coaches suggest Saucony running shoes, but there are many brands. You want a very light shoe that has built-in support for the arches. When you go shopping, check the weight of the shoes very carefully. Many runners also like to have spikes for rough terrain. There are both the screw-in kind and the permanent. This depends on the level and age of the runner. Again, check with your coach.
You could go to like Foot Locker, or just a sporty shoe store that's near you. Just ask the people that work there the type of shoe you need (very light shoe that has built-in support for the arches etc.)and they will probably help you! GOod luck!
