im not sure...

Question Posted Sunday July 9 2006, 12:35 am

Im just checking if anything is wrong with me or anything. lol. Im not sure what it could be or if its nothing really. Well, lately i have been getting dizzy a lot. Sometimes when i first get up from sleeping. When Im watching T.V. ill get up and then ill get really dizzy when i get into my kitchen to the point when i know its coming now. I also get really dizzy when its hot outside. Its not hard for me to get dizzy, and i can feel it coming. When i do get dizzy it lasts a while and sometimes i loose my balance, well, most of the time i do. Im not sure what it is, or if i have to worry about it at all.. If anyone knows or has any ideas of what it could be or if you have any suggestions please let me know. Sorry its so long.

well, i get dizzy like that a lot especially when youve been laying or sitting for a while and then get up right away, a lot of people get dizzy for a little bit. same when its really hot. however, it continues for another week or so you might want to go to the doctors to make sure nothings wrong. =]

well there could be a couple of possible reasons you are dizzy. i usually get that way also, when you are sleeping; and then get right up ... your body could judt be trying to simply wake up. heat or tv/computer can disfunction your body slightly, [but not entirely scar] whenever you get up quickly; your head just needs a second to get used to standing after sitting for a while. maybe even walking into light after being in the dark *[entering the kitchen]* most of the time it is just how your body reacts. if it does get severe, then you might want to at least talk to mom about it; and see what she has to say. we don`t need you gettin hurt =]

I would definitely see a doctor, there are many things that could cause you to be dizzy.

But if that is not an option, here are some suggestions.

You may be anemic. That means your body isn't getting enough iron. Take some over the counter vitamins, make sure they have lotsa iron!

You may be dehydrated. Drink water, not soda or sugary stuff. Just water and a lot of it.

Check your diet, have you been eating poorly this summer?

Any chance you're pregnant? That's how I found out I was pregnant. I had dizzy spells that I ingored and finally I blacked out and fainted in McDonald's (how embarrassing was that)! I had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance! It was there I found out I was pregnant and the baby was taking all my nutrients because I wasn't properly eating or taking care of myself and my body just shut down from malnurishment. It was terrible, I spent 5 days in the hospital and it was scary because the baby was small and I was in danger of losing him. That was 8 yrs ago, he is a healthy boy now.

That's probably not your case, but just know that it can happen.

If none of these work after like a week or so, I would go to the doctor.

Hope I helped!

Sometimes slight dehydration can cause the symptoms you have described, you might try increasing your fluids especially water. The best thing to do though is check with your Dr because there are many causes. It most likely is nothing serious, but it's not worth taking the chance.

Many people have "dizzy spells" when they've been sitting/laying down and then get up. It can also distort vision, but goes off after a few seconds.
However, it could be a number of things and a very small amount are actually serious, so try not to worry.
Things it could be:
Problems with the inner ear, viral infection, low blood pressure, anxiety (are you worried or stressed about something?) etc..
But see your doctor and get yourself checked over. He might give you something to prevent your dizziness!

There is a condition called vertigo, which can cause you to feel dizzy a lot. It's a viral infection and can last for usually around a week or so. If this is around the amount of time you have had it then this could be the cause but you should see your doctor for a formal diagnosis.

I would recommend you speak to your doctor regardless because there are a number of other possibilities, including anaemia and ear infections and the majority require treatment. If dizziness is your only symptom then I doubt it is anything serious but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

In the meantime, try and find some travelsickness tablets. I know that sounds a little weird but it was recommended to me when I had Vertigo last year. You get motion sickness because the equilibrium in your ear gets disturbed, making you feel dizzy and disorientated. Travelsickness tablets combat that so if you try using them, you might find that controls the dizziness until you can see a doctor.
