Yes, they are ceramic plates. Ceramic plates do less damage to your hair than other kinds, just like the people who answered your question before me said.

But, I recommend Chi straighteners. They're around 150 dollars (maybe a few dollars more or a few dollars less... I don't know the exact price), but I've had mine for years and it still works like it did when I first got it. They work a heck of a lot better than any straightener I got from Target or Wal*Mart.

I do know someone who got a straightener from Sally's Beauty Supply that's almost exactly like a Chi for about 70 dollars.

I hope I helped, and if you have any more questions, feel free to leave one in my inbox!

Most conairs do have ceramic plates (they do less damage) but i would say DONT GO WITH CONAIR! sorry but i had one and it was the worst straighter ever and trust me im not the first to say that. it never fully straightened my wavy hair and it left it very frizzy after like 5 mins

i would recommend the helen of troy gold series. it is a ceramic straighter i got a sallys for only $25 and i would say its just as good as a chi

Yes, they are ceramic plates. The purpose of ceramic plates is to reduce flyaways, make your hair feel soft, look shiny and it distributes heat evenly along your hair so that it wont burn it.
