parents are tough
my parents are really strick, i'm a 14 yr old female and my parents wont let me talk to a guy on the phone. i've told them they were to stick and i am responsible enough to talk to a guy on the phone. and all they say is "no dating till your 17." which is toatlly off topic from talking and dating. how do i get my parents to let me talk to a guy on the phone? cause i have guy friends i cant even talk too. my dad likes to yell a lot so i'd like to say it as easy as possible. how do i say it without getting yelled at? please be specific, thanx

Well, I have so many friends whos parents are like this, and i'm going to tell you exactly what I told them, and it worked! =)
Well, first, try to sit down with your parents and explain to them that you are 14 and you are going into highschool [well I think highschool, i'm 14, and going into 9th grade]
Tell your parents that you have guy and girl friends, and that your guy friends are JUST friends, nothing more. Also, let them know that you respect the fact that they won't let you date untill your 17.

I know exactly what your going through...my father was the same.
here is what i did and it really help...get your father at a good time (when he is not angry or had a bad day at work). Mack sure no one eles is around because fathers hate it when they feel they must answer a certain way.
say to your father "dad i understand that you dont want me to date guys untill i am 17,and i am fine with that, but talking to them on the phone is different. It is strickly friends; and i know you think that i am not responsible enough to talk to guys, but if you just let me i will show you that i am. I promise it is stricktly friends...please trust me"
and as you say this keep an easy tone...dont raise your voice or get irritated. it will only make things worse.

im really sorry! =[ that sucks. first off all, don't yell, try to show that you are responsible no matter how amd you are hold it in because yelling just aggrivates parenyts more and shows them you act like a child and don;t desrve to ahev teh privelleges you are asking for. try and do extra thigns aroudn the hosue like wahsing dishes, or doing extra cleaning anything and make sure they notice it but not by you like poitning it out to them, know what i mean? gradually they will see a mor responsible, newer more amture side of you and this amy take a while but after you have been proven "worthy" then you should start off by asking somone easier like your mom, she will understand better and let them know that you are not looking for anything dating related and tell them they can listen in on your phone calls for awhile (i know this may seem like feeding yourself to heyenas but it should work) also tell your friends not to say anything that you dont want your parents yo know
