Question Posted Wednesday July 5 2006, 6:15 pm

What is a good starting point for running? i'm 14/f and i want to start running about 3-4 times a week. what is a good starting point? like 1/2 mile or 1 mile? or should i just stick to time like 20 minutes or 30 minutes?

oh and is it better to run in the morning (like between 10 and 11) or at night (like between 6:30 and 7:30)

If you are starting out, I would do a 15/20 minute jog. Each week I would add on an extra 5 or so minutes. Whatever you feel comfortable with really. But don't over exert yourself. Most people run in the morning to start their day and to get it over with (!) but maybe you are more of a night person. It doesn't necessarily matter. But don't forget, exercise may make you hungry, and it's bad to eat meals after around 7sih.
