Death Of A Dear Doggy

Question Posted Wednesday July 5 2006, 12:46 pm

My trainer's doggy passed away yesterday. He was an awesome dog, who loved everyone and everyone loved him. Well, the girls at the barn want to do something special for my trainer to say like we care about you and we want you to be happy even in your greiving time. After all, she does so much for us, it's the least we can do. But, do you have ideas for gifts or anything like that? Also, things to say to her because I know it's going to be awkward.

hi.
First off, i am really sorry about what happened. Couple years ago a loved (DEEPLY) cat of mine died. But ANYWAYS....... You could let her go on a vacation (get her like plane tickets to N.Y. city, hawaii r something like that.) You could buy her chocolets, flowers and maybe a big card saying something like, YOU ROCK or YOU ARE THE BEST! Otr maybe possibly get her another dog like the previous one. ( Not to compare the dogs, just to kinda cheer her up :) :) )
i hope this helps and even though i don't know her, tell her even i said i was truely sorry.

I am so sorry to hear of her loss, it is always so painful when a loved pet dies as they do become family. She is lucky to have you all for support.
When one our pets or relatives passes we always buy a plant for the garden in memory of them. If it was an animal we try to put it in their favourite place. Then when it comes into bloom, it reminds us of all the good times we shared. We also try to buy a plant, where possible, as close to the lost ones name as we can. If we are not able to do that, we just rename the plant.
With talking to her, just try to be natural, forced conversation always sounds worse in these situations. Tell her how sorry you all are and that you will miss him as well. Then she will know she has your support and understanding. In time she may want to talk about him and reminisce, at that point you could go over all the funny, cute, loveable etc, things he used to do.
She is unlikely to be happy for a while, but it should be a comfort to her to know she has your support.
Hope that helps and good luck to you all.

You could make a big poster or huge card and all write like a little something about her and how much you love the dog and her and all she does for you. you could also but like a big picture frame ( or whatever sized) and but a bunch of pictures and quotes of all of your friends that know and love her and the dog and put any nice pictures of the dog and horses that the trainer loves or just nice things. Personal things not things that are bought really.
Hope this helps!

Dont try buying thigns for her,
it will make it seem like your trying to replace her hurt with a modern day materialistic item, you know? Just cards and kind words.
Tell her your sorry and that you know her dog was so nice, or just be there for her.
Sometimes words dont even need to be spoken.
