Helpful answered Tuesday July 4 2006, 2:37 pm: The media sets up goals for people that are totally unrealistic. Thin is not cool- healthy is beautiful. Would you consider yourself healthy? A personal trainer once told me that starving yourself attacks muscle first, not fat, so that won't do you any good. I know eating healthy is hard, but that's just what it takes. You don't have to go cold turkey, just try snacking on fruit or drinking water when you're hungry. You may also have a thick frame. try grabbing a wrist with one hand. If your fingers touch, you have a thin frame. If they don't, you have a thick frame. If you have a thick frame, you are not made to be thin. In any case, bone- skinny is not healthy. You know those models that are all so thin? It's taking a serious toll on their health. Aim for healthy, not skinny. Hope I helped. [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
chicka_chick09 answered Monday July 3 2006, 8:18 pm: i know you really dont want to hear this but ur not over weight! you want me to prove it, there is something called your BMI(body mass index). i calculated your BMI and it was a 22. ppl between 20 and 25 are not overweight. if you dont believe me go to
enter your weight and height and get your BMI.
if you still think that you are overweight then the answer is not starving yourself. did you know that when you dont eat you actually GAIN weight, because your body is storing all the fat!
try to cut down on all meats except fish! eat lots of vedgies and buy low fat foods. istead of chocolate bars and icecream eat flavored yogart and grain nutrition bars, they're really good and you can get them anywhere. dont eat normal bread, try tortillas whole grain bread, it's much healthier. i got all this froma health instructor and it's workin for my sis so dont worry! about the bathing suit, try buying those suits that come in shorts from the bottom, they hide your fat. and try to excersize alot, and play more sports.
hope i could help, take care and good luck [ chicka_chick09's advice column | Ask chicka_chick09 A Question ]
xomegaroni answered Monday July 3 2006, 10:21 am: wow you sound like me. i'm about 5'9ish & probably weigh close to what you do. i'm not exactly sure. i went to the doctor & they actually told me i was under weight..yeah! i couldn't believe it because idk i don't really think i'm skinny er anything. to eat healthier, juss replace your junk food with fruits & veggies. it sounds easy, but it could be difficult depending if you eat a lot of it. eat all 3 meals!! do not starve yourself. that is actually a lot worse than eating junk food. soo make a plan. eat a big breakfast(most important meal) & then eat lunch & dinner regularly. for lunch, since its summer you probably have more variety, but i'd suggest a sandwich er a salad. for dinner, a meat & a veggie would be best. unless you are a vegetarian?? sorry if you are, idk any meals for that. if not, yeah a meat & veggie would be good. if you get hungry inbetween, eat some fruit. its really good for you. remember to drink lots of water too because you need to keep yourself hydrated & it washes out things in your body you juss don't need. if you're hungry, eat. that's the right time to eat. when you're full, er almost full, stop. if you stick to that you won't go wrong. exercising will help a lot too. maybe swimming er running. don't think of this as a diet, because it isn't. you don't have any food restrictions so as long as you eat fruits & veggies throughout the day, you won't gain weight & you'll be eating better.

Remember to check nutrition labels. If the food item has more than 180 calories, and 2 grams of saturated fat, then its bad for you. I'll give you an example, I love cream cheese. However, I just got into the whole 'nutrition label checking' thing. I always get Philidelphia Light, and it had 2.5 grams of saturated fat. Then, my mom got me Philidelphia FAT free cream cheese. It only had 1 gram of saturated fat. See my point? The light didn't do much good, but the fat free was healthier than the light.
For exercising, do Pilates. It improves your flexibility and strength. Try google to get an introduction to it.
