if you kept having to push it in- then you didnt do it right. you probably didnt put the applicator far enough in before you did it. ]
maybe you didnt push it in far enough the first time, make sure you push it in all the way ]
If You kept on having to push it back up there then you didnt have it far enough in. You should of Changed it but its ohk. Its your first time and it takes practice.

The key is to RELAX! Worrying about it may make you tense, making insertion even harder. Read the package instruction leaflet carefully, and practice inserting a tampon during your period when your flow is moderate to heavy. The tampon should glide in easily. Lubricating the rounded end of the tampon applicator with a water-based gel for the first few tries can also be helpful. And by the way, don't use a petroleum-based jelly.
By the way that you said it was uncomfortable, then it was comfortable once you got in the water, my guess was your flow wasn't big enough to even wear a tampon.
Also for future reference about gettin in a pool on your period, you may not even have to wear anything. Menstruation doesn't really stop when a woman is in the water, but cold water does cause the muscles around that area to contract, and therefore, less blood can get out. You can demonstrate this by right before you get out of the shower, turn on the cold water and let it run on your lower abdomen, etc. When you get out, it will take about 10 minutes or so for your period to get back to its normal flow.
Hope I helped... :) ]
you could have not put it in far enough.. it happened to me before the first time too. it might hurt a little on the way up but once its up there its like you dont even have one on. after a while you will get used to everything. hope i helped. ]
Well if this was your very first time time, your body isn't use to something being "there" I felt the exact same way. Its totally normal your body just needs to get use to something being there. Or possible when you put it in you didn't put it in far enouf.
Good Luck Hope I Helped ♥ ]
