Because that might be the source of your problem. You don't start burning fat until your heart rate has been to its target heart rate for at least 30 min. After that you start burning fat. I would recommend that you walk for 30 min. at a fast past to get your heart rate up, and then after that 30 min. you do the elliptical for about 30-45 min. at a fast pace. Also consider doing some pilates, it is very good for you.
Now about your healthy eating. i had a friend who went on a "healthy eating diet" and i was shocked to see what she would be eating. She'd eat potatoes, peanut butter and jelly, high carb bread, small portions of cake and ice cream. I was astonished. so many times we think what we are putting into our bodies is good for us, when it really isn't. so i would encourage you to be very careful about what you eat. look at the carbs, sugars, and calories. Not so much the fat, it doesn't matter as much as the others do. Also, anytime someone wants to lose weight all they have to do is increase their fiber, water, and exercise. It is very important to drink lots of water because it helps get stuff through your system faster and that is the same with the fiber. but to increase fiber don't go out and get fiber pills or whatever because those can be very dangerous, perhaps do it by eating a high in fiber cereal everymoring. Overall, if you try to change the things i mentioned here, you'll lose that 10 pounds in about 2-3 weeks, maybe even faster :) But also, 5 of that 10 lbs. is probably just water weight so i would encourage you to lose about 15 instead.
Good luck! [ fitgirl101's advice column | Ask fitgirl101 A Question ]

Eat a bowl of healthy cereal in the morning equal to one cup with 2% milk for lunch have a light yogurt and a small side salad with fat free dressing, for dinner have just a salad with fat free dressing. Do 50 crunches in the morning before you eat and 50 crunches at night after you eat but an hour before you go to bed. You should shed that 10 pounds in about 2 to 3 weeks [ cdroeder's advice column | Ask cdroeder A Question ]

Another thing you can do is check out one of my answers to a question. It talks about a diet my math teachers been doing, and it works. She was told to do it by a health teacher from my school. Keep in mind that health teachers talk about nutrition and eating right. Here is the link:
P.S.- Are you sure you're overweight? go to am-i-fat.com, go to the part where it says "Am I fat", type in your height and weight, and it'll tell you. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
