what's a good acne product that you can get at department stores? i've tired proactiv and i'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide, so i can't use it. I have to use sylaic (spellling?) acid. I want something that would give me proactiv results though. I have mild acne and combination skin. i have a lot of blackheads around and on my nose, and I don't really get pimples except when i get my period sometimes. 13/f

I used it before and it worked pretty well and it's best for occasional breakouts too. hope i helped. take care! [ SweetStarx89's advice column | Ask SweetStarx89 A Question ]

There are a variety of products available for your skin type - and rubbing alcohol is NOT one of them! Disregard CJ's advice. Alcohol will strip your skin of its natural oils, which will leave it subject to even worse acne.
Develop a strict skincare routine:
1) Cleanse your face first thing in the morning, rinse with cold water and pat dry with a clean towel.
2) Follow with toner on your T-zone [Forehead and nose] and your chin - this will close the pores to prevent dirt becoming trapped within them, and fight shine throughout the day.
3) Moisturise your cheeks to prevent that dry flakiness that can come with combination skin.
Repeat the process at night, but rinse your face with warm water - this opens the pores, allowing your product to sink in overnight.
Blackheads are caused when your top layer of skin traps oil underneath it, and the sun can later turn them black. Exfoliate weekly to remove this build-up, and steam your face occasionally at night to allow the oil to exit the pores naturally.
You may need to see a dermatologist regarding what excact type of product to use. Tell them what you're looking for, and about your allergies. They'll be able to recommend something much more beneficial, and perhaps cost-effective.
