cross country

Today i went to a meeting at school for anyone interested in being on the cross country team next year. a couple of my friends are on the team so i thought i'd go and be on the team next year. The coach said we need to be ready August 7th to run 7 miles. I came home and couldnt even run one! i'm determined to do it, but i need help thinking of a workout plan, any ideas?

If you have a tread mill start by running 1 mile at a certain pace one day and then the next day up the pace the next day do 2 miles on the slower pace then the next day the faster pace. You don't have to do this by day but keep upping the miles or pace when you are ready. Also, it is a good idea for like run 3 or 4 times a week. Don't run every day or you may injure yourself or your muscles can become too stressed. Keep pushing yourself and you will be able to run longer distances before you know it. HOPE I HELPED

Well every week try and run one more than the week before. Also if you want to impress the caoch run up to 15 and then when you come back form the run you wont be as tired as the rest of the people.

if i were you, i would make a short route around your neighberhood as well as a long route. days when you are up to it, run the long route.. if you aren't doing too well that day, run the short route. that will help the most. you will get use to running and you will be surprised how much you are improving.

also, try some conditioning everyday. do 50 crunches 25 push-ups, things like that. those will help you tighten up your muscles!

oh geez! ok so at my school the team usually trains with running 10 minute miles... sooo one day run 20 minutes, next 30... and work up that way. if your friends are on the team too, get them all together and run together so you see what you need to work on and you can be challenged and encouraged at the same time. <3

Well of course you aren't going to be able to run for a long distance if you just started. It will take time. Just run for 20 minutes one day then 20 the next, then 30 the next and 30 the next, then 40 the next then 40 again. Make sure when you start out running 20 to take a break about 10 minutes then go again. Then when you run 30, take a break every 15 minutes. Sorry it's confusing, but I'm sure you'll be ready by August 7th. Good luck and have fun!

i LOVE to run. i was in cross country. when i first started out, it was hard. i ran 1 mile and almost puked my brains out! gross sry, lol! alright before you run, drink a lot of water it helps your body function more while you are running a lot. work out. im not saying go to a gim for 15 hours and work out like crazy! im saying do a couple of crunches and push ups before you run! it always gets me pumped up. get some sleep before you run because your body is going to be worn out and you have a lot of food in your system and it slows you down. the best time to run is in the morning, have a small snack like fruit or something but DONT i mean DONT drink orange juice or eat oranges before you run or you'll be running to the bathroom. ive learned that thanks to my cross country team! if you dont like someone tell them to drink a lot of OJ before you run, good blackmail, ahah. just make sure to stretch drink lots of water exersize and just have fun! hope i helped~
