hi, i am in 8th grade math and I need a little help. We are learning to solve equations algebraically as well as graphically. I understand how to solve an equation algebraically but not graphically. Can someone please list the steps of solving an equation graphically?
the was the problem that was given to solve the problem graphically.
y= x^2 + 2x - 8
y= -2x-11
thank's a lot! you dont know how much you will be helping me =)

Draw a table for each equation listing values for x and the resulting values for y. The usual thing would be to have a simple table with two rows (x on the top row and y on the bottom row). Sometimes you are given the highest and lowest values to use for x. If not start at 0 and go up to say 10/15/20. BUT looking at your second equation you should probably have some negative values for x. Perhaps you could try -10 to +10.
2. Draw the axes for a graph with the values from your tables.
3. Plot the points for each equation to draw a line for each.
4. Note the point or points where the two graphs cross. This will give you your solution(s).
