What you can do is any arm exersize, such as bench presses, lifting weights etc, as it gets better and you can put some pressure on it (i know it wil take a while) you could use a stationary bike, that will get your entire body moving, bu it will also work your kneee out pretty well, just dont start until you are told that you can at least start walking on it, if not later, u want to be careful coming back from an injusry like that, but i would definately say a stationary (or maybe even a regular, i used a stationary) bike would be good, but just make sure that it is ok with the doctor first, that that amount of pressure gets put on it [ sweet34misery's advice column | Ask sweet34misery A Question ]
KELLY_ELIZABETH answered Thursday May 18 2006, 5:03 pm: OMGG. i tore my ACL running hurdles in track earlier this month. i was on crutches, but i went to the doctors and they adviced me to get off it. and learn how to bend it. i know it hurts like hell.. but you gotta do it. yours might not be as bad as mine- i have to get surgery and im getting it on june 6th. you just have to bare the pain and start bending it. if you do have to gets surgery like me then you have to start bending it before they operate. i went to the physical therapist and they told me a few excerises to do. maybe you should try some/all of them. *lay on your belly on a soft surface and bend you knee as far as you can. just keep repeating. *sit on a chair or couch and put your feet on the ground. use your good leg to bring it the bad one. it hurts but it works good. *try putting presure on it and walking normal. *lay on your good side with the bad leg up. raise your leg then bring it down - it helps with your hips.. im the same way like you - i am really active and now i cant even play basketball next year in hs because of this stupid injury. before you start excersizing [besides like 6inches and chunches and planks and stuff] you have to get your knee bending atleast a little and be able to put pressure on it. right now im in the leanr how to walk stage and it sucks. i waddle around my school and people say i look like a penguin [ haha ]. i know some of this didnt help much, but im just want you to know youyr not the only one going through this. and im sure if you go to physical therapy or something they will give you plenty to do..
