I have this guy friend..

So this year, I got to know this guy really good, and in the beginning of the year he was dating a girl. Then eventually they broke up, but I find myself having a crush on him.
I dont know if he likes me though,
I mean honestly the only way to know is to ask, but I'm scared of being rejected.
Asking is easier said than done duh.
But I think he possibly could like me because one day he randomly hugged me and was like, aghhh i missed you!! And I just thought, awwwh thats so cute. And he always says hi to me now in the hallways, and I dont know, he probably doesnt, but I'm just wondering.

You said it yourself sister. So If you are too nervous to ask him, do you know any of his good friends? ask them to find out who you like. or maybe if you are comfortable and say you are joking around one day or online or something and just say it "so who do you like?" and maybe he will come right out and say it or get you to play the guessing game. im thinking if its the guessing game he does like you, or if hes like "im not gonna tell you", it most likely is you.

Your right asking is akward and may change things in a bad way. So there are alternatives. You could have a friend talk to him for you, you could hint hint that you like him without strait foward saying I like you. Good luck and it does sound like he has something for you. xX.

I think you should ask. Because like you said [it is easier said than done] but you could never know, and you could go the rest of your life not knowing. I think you should ask.
Who knows, he might even have strong feelings for you, you just never know!
The exact same thing happened to me a while ago, and I thought the boy didn't like me, so I asked, he did!
My conclusion, is that you should definetly try! By the way it sounds, he probably has feelings for you!
