But you must have some backup for your offer. Like get realy good grades and keep your room clean. Then come out with it. Say something like "Mom, dad. I have been realy good lately. My greads are up, my room is clean, and I havent been in any trouble. So can I please get a _____? I would by it, feed it, keep it clean and everything." Then you have stuff to back you up when you ask. A pet is a BIG reponsablity so make sure you have thought it. Good luck.

Tell them you will do extra chores and they will not feel like it's their resposibility. [ goodadvicex2's advice column | Ask goodadvicex2 A Question ]

If your friend has a pet like that maybe you could borrow it to take care of for a week, or save up your money so they see how much you really want one.
Though honestly I think it would be better if you didn't get one, no matter how hard you try to protect it from your cat your cat'll do anything it can to get to it and you can't be there 24/7. So it's pretty irrisponsible to get a pet like that when you have a cat. [ RealisticWench's advice column | Ask RealisticWench A Question ]
