Well frist of all you have to show them your responsable enough to have a pet. Then tell them how much you want one. But you must have some backup for your offer. Like get realy good grades and keep your room clean. Then come out with it. Say something like "Mom, dad. I have been realy good lately. My greads are up, my room is clean, and I havent been in any trouble. So can I please get a _____? I would by it, feed it, keep it clean and everything." Then you have stuff to back you up when you ask. A pet is a BIG reponsablity so make sure you have thought it. Good luck.

First off start by cleaning up everyday doing everything around the house for 2 or 3 days making sure everything stay spotless then after wards around dinner bring the situation up and tell them im very mature i've cleaned up everyday showin you im responsible and i can do it how do you expect for me to cherish things and learn how to care for things if you dont want me to get something so little that's harmless that i can take care on my own say please can we try it for a week and if not as responsible say we can take it back then say i promise you won't be diappointed and then they'll say okay well since you put it that way maube we can try it with some conditions and that's all how do you think i got my french poodle as an easter gift
good luck

TEll them you would pay for anything that they didn't want to pay for, any vet things, or any food. Tell them you will do extra chores and they will not feel like it's their resposibility.

Instead of talking about doing it, because no matter when you say it doesn't mean you'll actually do it, try to show them that you'll do it. If your friend has a pet like that maybe you could borrow it to take care of for a week, or save up your money so they see how much you really want one.

Though honestly I think it would be better if you didn't get one, no matter how hard you try to protect it from your cat your cat'll do anything it can to get to it and you can't be there 24/7. So it's pretty irrisponsible to get a pet like that when you have a cat.
