planning a birthday picnic for my boyfriend

Question Posted Monday May 1 2006, 8:53 pm

i'm 17/f (well, almost 18), my boyfriend is turning 19. instead of buying him something that he'll never use (i don't like the tie idea, and he's got all the music and movies he could ever want), i'm going to take him to the park for a picnic tomorrow afternoon. luckily, it will probably be a very nice day!

but i'm having trouble thinking of things to bring along, mostly food-wise. any ideas?? and also, do guys like doing this at all (provided there's enough delicious food, of course... :P )?

thanks in advance!

I think it's an awesomse idea, who doesn't love eating and hanging out with their boyfriend/girlfriend?

Sandwiches are always a good picnic food, but you can always go to a grocery store and pick up the rotisary (I so spelled that wrong) chicken, potato wedges, and coleslaw, that would be equally good. Go for his favourites. Bring some sparkling water, and fancy glasses to make it feel like wine. Make sure it's all travels though, like jello is probably not a good idea, and that it doesn't spoil easily. Stay away from eggs and mayo unless you plan on packing the food and eating it right away.

I'd make dessert at home though. Even if it's one of those cake mixes from a box, it'll show you really put time into it.

Aw, thats actually a really cute idea! I would ask him what his favorite foods are & make something for him. Sandwhiches, you can pick up some chicken or whatever. Make him dessert like cookies or brownies or something. I would either figure out what he likes and make it for him or getting some sort of take out. Good luck & have fun.

xD!

Match his personality! I think that will really catch his attention. Do you know his favorite foods? Maybe he'll be surprised that you remembered about the types that he likes to eat?

Some ideas..

Order take out, like Chinese Food, Cajun Food, Mexican Food, ect.
Go with the classics, don't make it TOO over the top. Chips, fruits, ect.
Get chips to match his personality, like BBQ chips, Doritos, Tortilla chips, Sour Cream and Onion [<3].
Get SODA to match his personality, like Sprite, Coke, Cherry Coke, Dr. Pepper.

Desert [if want to bring it]

DON'T get something that will melt really easily, like chocolate especially if it's really hot outside. That happened to me once, bad experience, stained my jeans.
Get something romantic, like Strawberries, and chocolate syrup.
