I don't go to church, but I pray every day and sometimes I feel really close to God. I never really understood why you HAD to go to church if you were catholic, because to me, religion is a personal thing that I practice alone.
Sometimes I feel like a hyppcrite too, but I know I'm not, and neither are you. If you believe in God, well everyone has their own way of acknowledging him. (I don't like to use the word "worship")
If you want to just pray to God instead of going to church, that is fine. It doesn't mean you believe in God any less than people who go to church. I mean, you can still pray & be a believer outside of church, so it's fine.

My friend has never gone to church doesnt own any kind of Bible or anything like that, but she still prays when she needs help or to tell God thank you for something. If you pray and you dont go to church or do anything else religious people do that doesnt make you a hypocrite otherwise alot of people in this world would be hypocrites!
pootietang answered Friday April 28 2006, 11:30 pm: yes! of course it's normal. you shouldnt feel like a hypocrite, though, because to be a "true practicing catholic" you dont need to go to church or attend bible study or anything: you just need to love God and pray, and you have that covered. so you are not a hypocrite, but it is normal to feel that way. Seeing other people, with other beliefs and other customs, and and in this case, other gods, is strange to you and not normal to you. If you pray, and if you believe in God, then that doesn't make you a hypocrit at all.
