My friend had larengitus and a fever for about 1 and a half weeks. She's finally recovering, after she was sick for so long. I think I may of caught what my friend has, but I am drinking lots of water (you wouldn't believe how much I'm drinking) and I stayed home today and rested.
Do you think that I will recover faster than my friend? I actually don't feel all too bad, and I don't feel like I'm getting larengitus or anything. Is it possible that my friend just didn't take care of herself properly? (She never drinks any water, just a few sodas, she eats alot of junk food and she didn't rest when she was sick because she had to play soccer.)
I'm not even sure if I definitely have what she had or not. In fact, my mom says I got sick from worrying so much that I was going to. But the big problem is: I have a birthday party tomorrow that I cannot miss or my friend will practically die. It's only about 2 hours. Will I probably be okay if I keep hydrating?
You probably did get sick due to worrying so much. Worrying can actually make you feel icky. And as far as this birthday party goes, if you're sick, and don't go, your friend will have to get over that. She cannot physically hate you for being sick, and if she does, dump her as a friend. I say, only go if YOU feel well enough to do so. [ Foundsoul's advice column | Ask Foundsoul A Question ]

However, your Mum might be right in saying that you feel ill because of worrying you were going to. What you are feeling might be entirely psychosomatic and you might actually be completely fine. I'm exactly like you, in that whenever someone is ill, I worry like mad that I'm going to come down with it too but all that worrying is only going to make you feel ill.
Relax, drink plenty of fluids and just carry on with things. Go to the party. Even if you do have laryngitis starting, it doesn't mean you should deprive yourself of two hours of fun. Laughter is a great healer so go and have the best fun you can. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]

The sooner you get it the quicker it will start working & get you all better! But I'd say as long as you feel up to it, you can deff go to the party!
