is this seriosuly true?!?!

my neighbor that is jewish says that if you drop a torah in a "sanctuary" like a temple you have to fast for 120 days! you have like a 99.9 % chance of dying though! is this true?

Yes,its true your neighbor wasent lying to you.I actually watched amovie about it from the history channel in school like two years ago,its very fascinating,but i could never imagine myslef doing it,its crazy.

Dropping a Torah is a serious matter but it seems that the fasting is for only 40 days and applies to all who witnessed it as well. I have included some web sites that can give you more information. Hope it helps.
